MICF - The Little Dum Dum Club (2)

The Little Dum Dum Club - 8 April 2013

Tommy Dassalo has had diarrhoea and vomiting for more than a week, I know because he's kept his Twitter followers up to date with the whole situation re his tummy problems and he mentioned it in his “Spread” show.

Yet the big international special guest (Trevor Noah) cancels not much less than half an hour before the recording of the the live Little Dum Dum Club because he’s got the brown squirts.

Good.

Because I think that without the "special" guest it actually made the recording better. Problems and obstacles make for a better podcast a better show when things are not going to plan and people can't sit in seats.

Dirty seats, how is that Melbourne Town Hall?
Tom Gleeson was also in a suit, that's why he didn't want to sit in the dirty seat.
One of the seats on stage was a bit dirty, that's the one that was reserved for Trevor Noah no doubt.

The much more special guests than some international big wig who's too big and special to turn up at the Little Dum Dum Club were; Tom Gleeson, Luke McGregor and Nick Cody.

Luke McGregor is as awkward as he sounds on various Little Dum Dum Club podcasts in person. I don't think I could go and see his show, I just, his accent, and his method of speech I just want to shake him like a tambourine or something and shout 'get to the point!'. Though that's just me. Yet I don’t mind Josh Thomas’ accent which some reviewers have said is also a bit odd.
I do think that McGregor’s funny in short bursts but his performance isn't for me.

Nick Cody is a bearded good looking bloke. He mentioned he’d had four beers before turning up, nothing in his manner seemed to suggest that he was inebriated in any way. He’s also got his own podcast Something for the Drive Home.

This show I did try to avoid putting my feet on the stage.
The chairs in the Powder Room had been moved closer to the stage, which meant it was more difficult to put my feet on the stage.
And I tried, really, to not out my feet on the stage, just one, a foot, occasionally, because I don't know where to put my feet. Long legs and for an hour I can't really sit still, it gets uncomfortable for me.
But Tommy Dassalo did notice that I hadn't initially put my feet on the stage, and recognised me, which was interesting.
Though I had obviously already seen his show, raved about it on Twitter and in posts below, though almost no one’s reading the posts below so that has almost no impact on anything.

All up I really enjoyed this podcast recording, even more so than last week's. Because this week's show was like an episode of the Dum Dum Club, there was no "special" guest stealing the limelight from Tommy and Karl and from the guests who know how to be guests. “special" guests want to be something more.

Tom Gleeson had to dash out early, to go and do his own show. I wonder if he ran up the stairs to the Supper Room of the Melbourne Town Hall.
Probably not in a suit, he probably took the lift so as not to arrive wheezing and out of breath as I've been doing going to the I Love Green Guide Letters podcast.
